Romeo Must Go! - Romeo Crennel Needs to go!!! Thoughts from another frustrated Cleveland Browns Fan

Romeo is Gone but RomeoMustGo Lives On!

December 30th, 2008 · 4 Comments

Well, it lives on for now…

We all know that Cowher said no, but there’s a lot more going on with speculation, interviews, etc, so lets see if we can stir up some discussion on the possible GM/HC candidates.

The biggest name right now is Scott Pioli as GM. He is probably one of the, if not the most wanted GM type in the NFL. He’s turned down several offers in recent years and is said to be very interested in the Browns job. He’s had a great run with NE - lets just hope it wasn’t all Belichick’s doing (Belichick had final say in football operations there).

The other interesting GM name is Bill Parcells. He supposedly has an out with the Dolphins should they sell - and they probably will. I think Pioli could be solid, but Parcells becomes choice #1 if he is available. However, Parcells would not be interested in any job that Pioli is interested in because Scott is his son-in-law. Seriously.

For coaches, if Pioli comes he’s said to be strongly considering Patriots OC Josh McDaniels. Sure, Josh is a local guy, but this move worries me a bit. We haven’t had much success with first time head coaches. I’m going to have to put a no vote in here - at least for now. That could change as I learn more about him.

Other possibilities include:

Eric Mangini - No thanks.
Rex Ryan - VERY interesting
Marty Shottenheimer - Sure (we’ve had that discussion already)
Kirk Ferentz - Not interested in a college coach now, sorry.
Mike Holmgren - No

There’s more, but those are at the top of the list for now. What do YOU think???

Savage Fired, Is Romeo Next?

December 28th, 2008 · 4 Comments

Phil Savage is out and evidently, he wasn’t given the opportunity to defend his position like Romeo was. Randy Lerner made the decision before the game due to Savage’s problems with “communication” and “lack of leadership skills.” I thought Savage was a great talent scout, but I really didn’t like the way the Winslow problem went down.

One can only hope RAC is next. Sorry Romeo, I’m sure you’ll get a D-Coordinator job somewhere and I’ll be happy for you.

By the way, here’s a link to a story on Cleveland.com about the Savage firing.
